In partnership with “Cartooning for Peace“, once a week ARTE is publishing a press cartoon on events unfolding in the Arab world by illustrators involved in the various countries, but also by western cartoonists. This week: Pierre Kroll (Belgium).

Born in Congo in 1958, Pierre Kroll is very well-known in French-speaking Belgium. With a background as an architect and environmental scientist, he became an independent cartoonist in 1985. His cartoons can be found in a number of periodicals and publications : in the daily Belgian newspaper Le soir, in the weekly magazine Telemoustique, from time to time in Courrier International. He produces live cartoons for the Sunday television programme Mise au Point and he’s on of the hosts of two satirical radio programmes on political debates on RTBF. In 1986, he received the “L’humour vache” Prize (nasty humour) at the International Cartoons Festival in St Just le Martel. In 2006, he won the first prize at the Press Cartoon of Belgium. He is the author of several publications.
